I have recently purchased my first home!! And I really want to make it something I can be proud of and enjoy for years to come.
Currently its a CBS 2 bedroom 1 bath (Plan attached) 1400sqft/975sqft under air, .85 Acres.
Little about myself - I'm 26, single male, like being social and will have friends over often.
My original thoughts when thinking about what to do was add an addition to the living room area, and build the house out to where the screened in porch currently is. This would make the living room much larger and most of my time will be spent in this room.
The other option in addition to enlarging the square footage would be to add a bath, making a 2/2. Where would this bath go? Would it be worth it? I hope your design can help me make that decision!
My original thoughts with the exterior (feel free to change/add) start with the rear room, closest to the lake(Master). Put in French doors, double French doors, or Sliding glass doors that go all the way to the ceiling facing the lake, taking advantage of the view. The doors wood open to a big wood deck with a full or partial wood trellis overhang. The deck should be an area to hang out and socialize, built in barbeque and bar (maybe tiki bar?). Maybe a Jacuzzi or outdoor shower to rinse off after a day on the lake.
There is a small screened in porch on the side of the house that doesn't seem very effective or efficient. My thoughts, as stated previously, were to either build the house out this way to create more SQFT. Another idea was putting a fire pit down by the water, next to the current deck/dock, surrounded by sand and seating for another social area.
There is a Shed in the backyard (see photos) It blocks the water view, I'm trying to figure out where would be the best place to move it.
As for the interior, whether we go with the 2/1+additions or a 2/2+additions my thoughts revolve around the living room.
The living room should be to be the focal point, a relaxing social area. In this room we are working with a limited amount of space, my thoughts (again feel free to change/add) were to design it in a minimalistic way to maximize the usage of space. I have 2 example ideas, 1 - using a low profile couch would make the room feel bigger (included example pics). 2 - Flat screen tv hung on the wall with wires concealed in the wall. Also a low-profile TV stand or cabinets under the TV (included example pics of this as well).
-The Kitchen - Its an "L" shape right now, I've included a picture of a potential new design (just an idea, can be changed)
-Redo floors in the home
-Out of box idea - Textured wall behind tv? Wood? tile? something original. (Included example pic)
My Tastes are tropical, I like Whites, browns, greens, blues, Maybe even black, I'm not really sure your options are limitless.
