Space is an open living room area in a 1910 bungalow with some mission style details and an open layout.
Need to redesign the fireplace/mantle area and built in shelving so that i can have a widescreen thin TV above the fireplace. Shelving to accomodate audio equipment gear. I have floorstanding speakers about 34" tall. Audio equipment consists of 2 amplifiers (dedicated subwoofer amp), playstation, seperate blu-ray.
Keep the TV as low as possible (considering asthetics) for comfortable viewing.
Ensure that the shelving is deep enought to accomodate stereo equipment(~17").
Room for speakers on either side (close to the walls).
Design to match existing architecture style/details of the room.
TV will be large, just under 60" width with 16:9 aspect ratio.
Cannot move fireplace location.
Have a brick/stone shelf below where tv is mounted to help protect from convective heat from the fireplace.
Would like to keep existing room color scheme.
Possible glass door fronted fireplace.
One possible idea is to have the lower part of the fireplace project a few inches out, then a stone shelf/parapeet to sheild the TV from heat as much as possible, then setback the upper part of the fireplace where the tv mounts, possible use of brick/brick-look backing all the way to the ceiling.
Deliverable should be such that it can be executed by a general contractor, with descriptions of suggested types of material used. 3D plans printout would be nice with eye level view. Do not need to work with designer after deliverable.

idea.jpg shows an example of a fireplace with tv over where tv is low to the fireplace.
idea2.jpg shows an example of projecting the bottom front of the fireplace a few inches forward so the tv gets recessed back and somewhat protected from the heat.
