We would like to remodel the interior of our 1964 ranch home. We live just outside of Nashville, TN. The home is mostly original and we have purchased from the original owner. We want an updated look and feel to the home. We like an open concept kitchen, dining, living room. Our style is traditional/transitional with muted colors. We want to maximize storage space as there is little currently.
Master Suite: we would like a master suite, larger master bath with dual sinks/vanities, shower at minimum 4'x4', walk in closet. Our current master closet is 5x12, and that size or larger is preferred. We do not have to include a tub in the master bath. If space provides, a small linen closet would be ideal. We prefer carpet in the bedrooms. We have a king size bed.
Kitchen: we like white cabinets with brown glaze, stainless appliances, light colored granite countertops. We would love a farmhouse sink. Hardwood or tile floors preferable.
The current kitchen is dark--lighting must be improved.
Living Room: We would like to consider converting the current fireplace to a double sided fireplace if possible. We would like hardwood floors.
Laundry room/Mud room/desk combo: we would like to move the laundry room inside from the garage. We would like to use the room as a mud room, laundry, and a small desk to place the home computer. We would like a mudroom storage bench with 3 compartments. Would prefer tile floor of some sort. We want cabinets and utility sink around the washer/dryer with a bar above w/d to hang clothes. Please see inspiration pictures.
Formal Dining room: we do not use a formal dining room and would like to remove it from the design of the home. Could this space be converted to the laundry/mud room?
Entry Foyer: Currently the space feels very narrow. We would like it to be slightly wider than it was designed. A pedestal table with art work or mirror above for decoration would be our general basic design. Would love more light in the entryway. If transoms are possible around front door, that would be preferable.
Second Bath: we would like tub/shower combo in the guest/hall bathroom. Single vanity is fine.
Covered Patio: We would like to build a fireplace in the middle of the back patio. Stacked stone with rough hewn mantle. TV mount above fireplace. We plan to enclose the space with windows instead of screens. We would also like to have a grilling station with range hood on one side.
Pet Wash Station: We would like to use the area in the garage originally designed for washer/dryer to create a pet wash station. I have included photos of similar stations.
