This proposal of ideas focuses on creating a modern, comfortable working layout for the homeowner and guests.
Upon entering the main hall after descending the staircase, a small alcove immediately opposite the stairs leads to a modern frosted glass door which opens to a luxurious bathroom. The bathroom is designed to catch the eye upon entry, with a large soaking tub as the central focal point. The tub itself is set into an alcove, backed by a translucent panel with LED backlighting. The company 3Form creates numerous highly sustainable and environmentally friendly materials that are prime candidates for this installation, with many patterns and colours available, all of which are manufactured in the USA. I suggest one of their more natural frosted materials with patterns of real twigs and foliage embedded within the material, adding to the relaxing atmosphere of the bathroom. Additionally, the vanity is of a dark wood of your choosing, with a stone counter and backsplash with a stone sink bowl, and an electric towel warmer on the opposite wall. These few proposed materials combine with the design of the bath to aid in a sumptuous, relaxing environ for the homeowner and visiting guests.
Just off the bath is access to the existing electrical mains box, and the mechanical area of the home. The mechanical room was intentionally enlarged to allow for easy access to mechanical units and for the installation of storage shelving along the walls.
A separate double doorway in the main hall space opens to the washer and dryer unit, which have been elevated on a functional pedestal, putting them at an ideal height. The base pedestal itself pulls out away from the washer and dryer providing a large workspace for folding and sorting laundry, which is then conveniently rolled back into the laundry space when finished, remediating the space requirements of a dedicated laundry room, but still providing the same amount of work space. Drawers in the pedestal below the work surface and shelving above the washer and dryer provide additional storage space.
A mini bar is located under the existing stairs in the lounge, which provides a modern area for parties, television, and even guests, as two barn doors spread out to reveal a sleeping area for guests. Built-in cabinetry surrounds the area, providing ample storage in a stylish way. A modern fireplace is recessed within a stone mantle that creates a focal point on the main wall of the area. Above the mantle, the wall gives way for a dedicated space for decoration and a large, flat-panel television.
