We are living in a solid log home - the upstairs loft is sub divided into a master bedroom, adjacent bathroom, walk in closet. When the house was initially built it also had a cathedral ceiling - in the meantime it was closed off with a wood floor and we turned it into an open office space. We would like to remodel the master bedroom, bathroom and closet as part of this project. We are also interested in ideas for the home office (workspace for 2 incorporating current standing desk and furniture where possible).
We would like to stay with the natural look of the log home but move away from the rustic style / americana style of the prior owners and give the upstairs a warm and more modern look. Currently the master bedroom and stairs leading to the upstairs is carpeted - we would like to change this and move more to slate / stone or wood. Preferably no morre carpets since we have 3 cats.
For the master bath we are open for completely new suggestions including tile instead of wood paneling. Note the master bath is raised by 1 step to allow for plumbing and has a vaulted ceiling.
We would like to continue to use the current bedroom furniture which is hand crafted cherry wood in a dark stain (brown and espresso). The plan shows storage under to the left and right of the dormers in the front of the bldg. this was not built and instead is open. There is water baseboard as heating under the sub floor.
The walk in closed needs proper shelving and built out. It has a vaulted ceiling.
Natural materials / Econ friendly open and airy design.
